Website & Locations

In a discussion with Donald earlier today, we considered the potential to have the CWU GEARS website divided into sections that imitate that of a city within Jord.

For example, the content authors (scribes) would visit the “Libary” where they would get access to the CWU lore, and editing/authoring tools to make proposed changes and additions to the lore.
Anyone else who wanted to read about the CWU lore would also visit the library, placing both consumers with a general interest and pro’sumers who contribute within virtual proximity which can be illustrated by a list of users that are online in that area.
In addition, staff members who are reviewing the content would also display in this list, giving everyone a virtual presence and the ability to interact.

This would make contributing seem more of a game, or virtual role/life.

This idea can be extended to most areas of the GEARS platform (playform?)

Security Clearence

In regards to the tiers of privileges/tiers (security clearance). Donald also suggested the use of a tutorial that must be completed by all new would-be Content Authors (Scribes). This could be a fun experience, and useful tool in increasing the quality of submissions. Upon the completion of the tutorial, the scribe would be rewarded with some experience points, and access to the tools required to make article submissions.
As the person acrews experience by having his/her articles accepted, they would achieve higher privilege tiers and gain greater access to the tools, such as the ability to take on an apprentice scribe, editing others articles, and finally the ability to approve them.

Apprenticeships
An apprenticeship system would be a powerful Quality Control/Assurance and Recruitment tool. Lets face it, our project requires a certain degree of quality, and there by implementing a dynamic system that will allow not only Team Members, but Community Members to train and educate others to increase the quality of their submissions will be a powerful tool!
